A Rant: Normalising Normal

How often do we, particularly as women, find ourselves jumping on the next “must-do” craze?
Advertisers have long known that women are some of the biggest consumers — and they love to make us feel not quite enough. And so the cycle begins. Someone who looks healthier, stronger, richer, more successful, happier sells us their magic elixir. And we buy it.
Protein powders. Strength training. Collagen. Brazilian bum lifts. Lip filler. Botox. Ice baths. Retreats. And dare I say it… coaching too.

Coaching should never be entered into because you feel like you should. Not because everyone else is doing it. Not because your friend swears by it. And definitely not because an influencer tells you it changed their life.
Coaching, at its best, is transformative but only when entered into as you, for you.
When will we, as women, allow ourselves to feel whole? To feel normal and satisfied. To stand in the middle and still feel like we’re winning. To say no thanks to the things that don’t feel like us and yes to those that align beautifully with our values and our essence.
When will we stop treating “normal” like something to run from and start embracing the steadiness and stillness that allows us to make clear, aligned choices? When will we normalise normal?
I can’t help but feel that, in some ways, we’re losing our power, not gaining it. Not because it’s being taken from us, but because we sometimes hand it over. Willingly. Quietly.
We fought for the freedom to choose. But when we use that freedom to choose things that quietly enslave us, that’s when something in me stirs.
My quest and purpose as a coach is simple. It’s about authenticity. Helping you be your most unfiltered, undiluted, un-influenced self. To make decisions as you and for you. To ask the kind of questions that spark lightbulbs in your mind and ignite a fire in your belly. Not to mould you into a copy-paste version of what’s trending. Not to add you to a sea of “empowered” women who’ve simply ticked the box. But to help you trust yourself deeply.
We have, I believe, a responsibility to step forward in all our authentic glory.
And if you do choose any of those things; fillers, protein shakes, coaching, retreats, whatever it is, because it genuinely brings you joy, strength, confidence, value, worth… I am absolutely cheerleading you. Because that choice came from you.
So, in the words of the Grail Knight in The Holy Grail:
“Choose wisely.”
Choose from your own wisdom, your own lived experience, your own values and needs. Not because you “should” in order to belong.
You already belong. You need no one’s permission.
